Last week, Jason & I traveled to Portland, OR to attend Donald Miller’s Storyline Conference.  To say the conference was inspiring, encouraging, and challenging is a complete understatement of the experience.  More on that coming soon!

In the days leading up to the conference, we were asked to bring a pair of new or gently used shoes with us and that we wouldn’t want to miss out on this opportunity.  So, when Jason & I arrived in Portland, it was our mission to find two great pairs of kids shoes.  It didn’t take long for us to find a style that we wished they had in our size, so we bought both of them without hesitation.  As a tradition, Storyline supports an organization or person who is commited to writing a better story.

This year, one of the people they featured was Isabel from Shoes for Kids.   Her story is simple. In 2009, she traveled to Kenya with her family.  She met lots of kids who didn’t have any shoes.  After coming home and praying about what she could do, she realized she could give kids shoes.  Her dream is for every child in the world to have a pair of shoes.

Man, I love big dreamers!  Go after your dream Isabel!

In an interview with Isabel, Donald Miller revealed that many of us brought shoes to give.  Her expression was one of complete surprise and excitement.  She left the conference with 500 pairs of shoes to give to kids in the Dominican Republic when she travels there in August.
